Water-to-Go, the next best thing in sustainable travel
Tired of seeing mountains of plastic every time you are on the beach?
I’ve witnessed it first hand when I was travelling in Indonesia. The streets and beaches were literally covered in garbage that you couldn’t really call it a tropical paradise anymore. Even during my first diving experience in Bali, I saw more plastic wrappers in the ocean than tropical fish. It was then it hit me something needed to be done.
What can you do yourself?
The founder of Water-to-Go had the same experience during his travels in India, Indonesia and China. Originally they developed an advanced technique for NASA, but from that project, their 3-in-1 nanotechnology filters were born. Resulting in a technology that could provide clean drinking water almost anywhere. Perfect for travelling and/or hiking. No more need to carry an endless amount of water bottles. You just need the one, that you can refill almost everywhere. Out of water? No worries, just look for a water source and the filter does all the rest. This way you can help reduce the environmental damage that has been done.
For all the technical details, I advise you to go on their site where they explain it way better than I’ll ever can. Once you’re there, make sure to read the testimonials of people already using their products.
What I can say is that it filters up to 99,9999% of harmful contaminants such as metals, chemicals, bacteria, viruses and even microplastics.
Since I spend a lot of time in the US, with this I can finally drink clean tap water that doesn’t taste and smell like chlorine.
Be the change you wish to see in this world
Their bottles come in two sizes:
- the 75cl which filters about 200l of water and could last up to 3 months when refilled 3 times a day
- the 50cl bottle that filters about 130l and can last up to 2 months
They both come with a “time strip” that tells you when it’s time to renew your filter, all made of biodegradable filter membrane and recyclable plastic end caps. Just make sure you activate the filter before you use it for the first time.
I have the 50cl bottle and I don’t leave home without it. I feel confident that I’ll have clean water to drink wherever I am at that time. I feel good about myself for drinking healthier water and by helping the environment while doing so.
Another benefit of Water-to-Go is that they give back to the communities around the world. They support dozens of charities, including Just A Drop, a charity that seeks to provide sustainable safe water, sanitation and hygiëne projects to communities all over the world.
In this day and age it’s all about sustainable travel, so do your part and get your own bottle on Water-to-Go. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
Change starts with yourself, so be the change you wish to see in this world.
